Shipley United Reformed Church

Shipley United Reformed is located on Bradford Road, opposite the chip shop on the corner of St Pauls Road, has served the community over 100 years and is in discussion with Hall Royd Methodist Church with a view to forming a joint local church with the ultimate aim of one congregation under one roof.

Services are held jointly with Hall Royd Methodist Church, alternating buildings fortnighlty. Hall Royd Methodist Church is 100 years along Bradford Road, towards Bradford.

Sunday worship: 10:15am

• Communion 2nd Sunday of the month
• Special family service 1st Sunday of the month

Tuesday Church - 10:30 coffee 11:00 Worship

• (informal worship in the social room)

Nationally, the United Reformed Church was formed in 1972 by the joining of the Presbyterian and Congregational Churches. Other churches joined later including the Churches of Christ and Congregational Church of Scotland. Some local congregations are united with other mainstream churches in Great Britain.

The URC stands in the Reformed tradition of the Christian faith, believes in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and encompasses a broad range of theological stances from conservative evangelical to liberal interpretation of the scriptures. It welcomes debate and encourages people to find out for themselves what is important about faith.
